Cancer is often categorised into stages. In the early stages, the cancer growth is confined and has not spread to other parts of the body. As it progresses into later stages, the cancer will spread to the lymph nodes or other places in the body1.
Therefore, early detection through screening is important. When cancer is diagnosed at an early stage, curative treatment can be given, which increases the chances of survival. On the other hand, once the cancer has started to spread, it may lower the chances of survival2.
The only way to stay ahead is to keep yourself properly informed so you can take the right action at the right time.
